• Qualifications and Experience
• Demonstrated commitment to Jesus Christ.
• Invested in making disciples of Jesus Christ.
• Ability to work in a Christ-honouring manner, with
people from diverse backgrounds.
• Service-oriented.
• First Degree in Teaching or a related field, such as
Primary Education, Special Education or Secondary
Education. (Preferred)
• One year's experience working within a dynamic
educational environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to advancing the
educational outcomes of students with special needs.
• Knowledge of the demands of private school institutions
in Jamaica. (Preferred)
• Solution-oriented, able to identify weaknesses and
inefficiencies in the system and willing to repair them.
• Experience teaching Food and Nutrition, Home
Economics or Science.
Teacher's Role & Responsibility
• Establishing and communicating clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Planning, Preparing and Delivering instructional activities that facilitate active
learning experiences.
• Developing interactive lessons for students.
• Preparing classroom for class activities using teaching aids and multimedia tools.
• Providing a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational
activities so that all students are given the chance to access the intended learning.
• Instructing and monitoring students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Observing and evaluating students' performance and development.
• Assigning and grading class work, homework, tests, practicals and assignments in a
timely manner.
• Providing appropriate feedback on work.
• Encouraging and monitoring the progress of individual students.
• Maintaining accurate and complete records on students' grades and attendance
• Preparing reports on students, as required.
• Managing student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and
procedures.
• Performing certain pastoral duties including student support, counseling students
with academic problems and providing student encouragement.
• Participating in department, faculty, parent, and other meetings as required .
• Communicating necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents
regarding student progress and student needs.
• Keeping updated with developments in subject areas, teaching resources and
methods and making relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
• Stewarding God's resources wisely for the advancement of His purposes at the
Academy.
