Roles and Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership & Development

  • Best Practices: Keep abreast of best practices in the field of education at large and Christian education in particular.

  • Vision Communication: Communicate the Academy’s instructional vision and standards for curriculum development, delivery, and evaluation to all stakeholders.

  • Staff Evaluation: Provide baseline evaluations of the teaching staff in conjunction with the Principal and Team Supervisors, according to the Academy's evaluation policy.

  • Professional Growth: * Collaborate with Team Supervisors to develop S.M.A.R.T. vocational development plans based on Academy-elected rubrics.
    Monitor teacher engagement with development plans and co-develop timely interventions.
    Oversee the upskilling of teaching staff and disseminate best practices.

Strategic Planning & Culture

  • Alignment: Assist the Principal in establishing policies and strategic objectives that promote the Academy's vision, mission, and culture within your department.

  • Staff Orientation: Orient the staff to the Academy's vision, mission, policies, and strategic objectives.

  • Collaboration: Establish teams and a culture of collaboration among all community members to realize the Academy’s mission.

Operations & Administration

  • Daily Oversight: Assist the Principal in overseeing daily business and administrative operations, including making significant inputs to budget development.

  • Process Improvement: Assist in developing, assessing, and enhancing operating processes and procedures.

  • Community Relations: Ensure healthy relationships between all community members and the wider community.

  • Human Resources: Oversee the recruitment process for department candidates, including Supervisors, Teachers, and Supporting Staff.

  • Resource Stewardship: Steward God's resources wisely for the advancement of His purposes at the Academy.

Spiritual & Vocational Leadership

  • Plan Implementation: Collaborate with the Principal to implement and oversee a spiritual and vocational development plan for the school year.

  • Business Expansion: Assist in raising capital and carrying out business-expanding strategies to enable the Academy's vision.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Spiritual Commitment: Demonstrated commitment to Jesus Christ and invested in making disciples.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work in a Christ-honoring manner with people from diverse backgrounds; service-oriented.

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Teaching or a related field (Educational Leadership, Assessment, or Administration).

  • Experience: * Seven years of experience working within a dynamic educational environment.
    Experience leading teams in a professional environment.

  • Specialized Knowledge: * Demonstrated commitment to advancing educational outcomes for students with special needs.
    Solution-oriented mindset with the ability to identify and repair system inefficiencies.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of the demands of private school institutions in Jamaica.
